According to experts from the 25th Institute of the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the assembly and alignment of optical components directly affect imaging performance. High‑precision, complex optical systems impose stringent performance requirements: they not only demand ultra‑precise mounting and adjustment of tiny optical elements within confined spaces, but also require robust stability of the entire optical system. Traditionally, such assemblies and alignments have relied on seasoned craftsmen working in tandem with precision instruments, leading to challenges such as high assembly difficulty, lengthy turnaround times, and poor consistency in manufacturing and processing.
Building on the high‑precision alignment and assembly of lens optical systems, the research team conducted studies on the development of a CNC‑controlled unit for high‑precision optical centering and alignment, a high‑precision measurement system, automated centering‑based machining adjustments, as well as system integration and application validation. These efforts led to breakthroughs in key technologies such as integrated, automated centering for high‑precision clamping and adjustment, enabling micron‑level automatic fine‑tuning.
Experts state that the successful development of a high-precision, optically‑based, automated centering CNC lathe has revolutionized the conventional manual alignment and adjustment process for high‑precision optical systems, nearly doubling alignment efficiency and providing robust, high‑efficiency, high‑accuracy manufacturing support for the design and production of optical products.
